Christmas Gift Idea for Eco-Friendly Families

I am a busy woman. I have a beautiful 9 month old son, I run a small business and in my free time, I write reviews. I’m very, very fortunate as I have a very good sleeper and a great partner. We do our best to efficiently run our household and as much as I love a clean house, more often than not we fall a wee bit behind on our cleaning duties. I have a very limited amount of  “free” time, I want to spend as much of as I can with my family so I am very particular about what I use to clean my home; it must clean well, smell great, be economical and be eco-friendly. That’s a tall order, unfortunately many good quality eco friendly cleaners are not wallet friendly and often the cheaper brands are just that…cheap. There are too many companies who claim to be eco-friendly and while they do use less packaging or smaller containers, the products barely meet my standards for ”eco- friendly”.

Lucky for me and my very clean home, I found Better Life Green Cleaning Products. Based out of St. Louis, Missouri, Better life was started by two sets of parents; Tim and Nancy and Kevin and Tiffany who wanted the best green cleaning products for their families. After having children, the two couples felt their houses were worse off after cleaning than before. Frustrated with the lack of green cleaning products that were completely safe for parents, their children and the planet we inhabit, Better Life was created.

I received for review the Better Life Starter Kit which contains an amazing assortment of green cleaning products in its own canvas carry all. Who would think I would be so excited to clean?  I have to admit I was eager to try my new products. The first stop on my cleaning train was the yuckiest; our bathroom. The first product I used in the in the starter kit was the what-EVER all purpose cleanser. (I received both the scent free and the Citrus&Sage scent). I used  the what-EVER all purpose cleaner in the yummy smelling Sage and Cirtrus scent and I was very impressed with its cleaning powers and the scent. The smell is fantastic; not like traditional cleaners smell (pine, floral, too many scents jumbled into one), it just smells fresh.

I sprayed the what-EVER on every surface and gave a gentle scrub to the shower and the soap scum was gone.  The bathtub, the toilet, the sink and the floor became squeaky clean. I love that there is one product for every surface. My time is limited so I love one step products. The second green cleaning product I used was the glass cleaner, “I can see clearly, WOW”. Humorous name aside, this works. I used it on all my mirrors and glass; no streaks, no mess, no stinky blue liquid here! Now on to the second dirtiest place in my home…my kitchen. It’s a small kitchen so it has be clean or chaos occurs. In the kitchen, I predominately use the third green cleaning product I received from Better Life,  “Even the kitchen sink”. It is great on the sink as well as a gentle scrubber you can use on everything in the kitchen; stainless steel sinks, porcelain, enamel, stone, cultured marble and non-polished solid counter tops. If you are not sure about a surface, always test just to make sure.  It’s so gentle you can inhale it, it’s scent free.

No need to wear gloves, a mask or hold your breath while cleaning. I just squirt a bit on the dirty surfaces and all the food and germs are gone. The fourth green cleaner and my personal favorite in the starter kit is the “Simply Floored” floor cleaner. Designed to be used in one amazing step, Simply Floored is  lightly scented (kind of smells like Wrigleys gum)  and is the perfect cleaner for tile, wood, stone, laminate, linoleum and even cement. All you do is pour and wipe, no bucket, no stinky water, just clean in one easy step. Our family loves this, it is so perfect for busy parents. Along with the previously mentioned products, Better Life has “2am miracle, green nursery cleaner” with a tag line of  “The nursery cleaner that works when you’re pooped. And your baby already has”, you know this was invented by parents.

Now that we have established how well Better Life works and how yummy they smell, lets talk about price. The starter kit which contains 4 generous sized products, the canvas caddy, a sponge and a loofah retails for only $35.00 US. (You can purchase them individually for approximately $6-8 US).

Last but not least, let’s discuss the green factor. Wondering what makes Better Life so green? Better Life products do not use  ammonia, sulfates, harsh surfactants, ethoxylates, fragrances, dyes, or volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as glycol ethers and alcohols in any of their our products. Wondering what is in them? All products are made from ingredients found in nature, you can breathe easy, the fully disclosed ingredient list is all-natural and made with only essential oils.

Worries about bacteria and disinfecting? Test studies show that what-EVER! & 2am Miracle have been proven to remove more germs and bacteria than conventional disinfectants!

So to sum up, Better Life is a very budget friendly, environmentally conscious, yummy smelly green cleaner that works! I’m not a chemist so I had a few questions for the team behind Better Life and I have to say I was incredibly impressed because they emailed me the same day I emailed them and because I had so many questions, they called me. Yes, they called me and made sure I had all my questions answered. Currently, Better Life is sold at many fine retailers in the US and will be in Canadian stores as their distribution increases, for Canadian wholesale inquiries email here   taragillis@eastlink.ca.

Thanks for the giveaway… Our bathrooms, specifically the showers, are the “problem” areas of our home; I think a few bottles of “Even The Kitchen Sink” and some elbow grease should do the trick.
