Christmas Gift Idea for Families and all Disney Fans
Christmas is about spending time with family and friends, this is what Disney Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse is all about. After the annual Disney get together at the House of Mouse, all the Disney characters are trapped in the home due to a huge snow storm. This reminds me much like my daughters first Christmas (last year), not only were we snowed in, but the power was off for nearly 5 days as well. In any case, despite the odd circumstances, we enjoyed our good old fashion Christmas with family and friends. Disney Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse, does much the same for the Disney characters – especially Donald who has a case of the “BAH-HUM-BUGS”.
Here is a synopsis:
On Tuesday November 3rd, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will release MICKEY on DVD! This Christmas, share a hilarious and moving holiday celebration with Mickey and Minnie Mouse in this full-length adventure. This classic tale is sure to leave everyone in holiday spirits, starring more than 35 Disney characters includingMickey, Minnie, Goofy, Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Bambi, Dumbo, The Lion King and more!
In this full-length adventure, a huge snowstorm leaves Mickey, Minnie and many other friends stranded leading Mickey and his guests at the House of Mouse to whip up an impromptu party that includes instilling a “Humbug”-quacking Donald Duck with the holiday spirit. Everyone shares their home movies and even grumpy Donald starts to smile when they realize the “Best Christmas of All” is the one you share with friends and family.
We watched this movie as a family, my husband and I really enjoyed some of the old classic shows, such as Mickey and Pluto setting up their Christmas tree (with Chip and Dale), and of course the classic Mickey’s Christmas Carol, which I had the opportunity to review here. These old shows bring back so many great memories for us when we were children, it’s wonderful to be able to share them with our daughter.
The movie also has some bonus features including some sing-a-long carols and “The Sound of Christmas – A Disney Sounds Effects Features”. The sound effects bonus feature is really neat, it’s amazing to see what instruments are used in a movie to produce the sounds that go along with what we see. There is also a special version of “T’was the night before Christmas”

I don’t really have an odd story. Sorry! My Christmas days are never boring though. I will take you through all the places I have to be. Mind you this was much easier when we had no kids!
Christmas eve we go to my husband’s family.
Wake up christmas morning at home. Head to mom’s, then to Dad’s. On to Grandma’s, then off to hubby’s other side, then a step grandma as well. Ugh……….. Ridiculous.

odd story? Every Christmas dinner we all stare at each other wondering who will say “Salt up your end?” first. It all started with an old GF of DBs Grandfather , it was his way of requesting the salt. He would say this at Christmas diner and we just kind of stole it. Newcomers to our Xmas dinner are always confused…

An “odd” Christmas experience I’ve had?? I guess this would qualify… either the first or second Christmas my husband & I had together after we were married, we woke up Christmas morning BOTH sick to our stomachs. We had crackers for our Christmas “dinner.” Yuck!

I guess the oddest Christmas story is when we had to celebrate the day after because some of my family went to a football game the day of. Not that odd, but the best I could think of!

Not an “odd” christmas experience but every few years something tends to happen on Christmas day….
Growing up I had one cat rip the wrapping paper off ALL our gifts, an other literally trashed the tree [broken ornaments everywhere and the tree landed on the tv hutch], I found out I’m allergic to something in very alcoholic beverage I’m offered on christmas day.. [I was red, blotchy, puffy faced... hot and cold.. I had to drap wet face cloths over my skin =/] Hopefully this year nothing “odd” happens ^.^

Shortly after I was married we spent a Christmas with my SIL and her kids. After about an hour of opening presents my SIL declared that it was breaktime– and her kids listened! They willingly took a break from opening presents!

DH and I got married while we were both on leave from the Navy, then we went to my family’s house for Christmas and he was sort of a suprise. No one knew that I would be bringing my HUSBAND home for Christmas….the looks on their faces were priceless when I introduced everyone to my husband and not boyfriend. Not an odd story but its the best Ive got

This isn’t SUPER odd, but the best I could think of! My husband and I went to Jekyll Island for Christmas in 2006. I had just graduated college and we had celebrated our 2 year anniversary a week before. So, Christmas morning we exchange gifts we brought with us. In my stocking is Reeses, one of my favorite!! But, my husband is allergic! We were leaving to go home after we swapped gifts and I had to ride home with the Reeses but couldn’t eat them because he’s allergic and just smelling peanut butter makes him feel sick. Torture!!

Well, last Christmas, we (my husband, four children and myself) spent our time at the Children’s Hospital here in Kentucky. Our youngest daughter had been diagnosed with leukemia…and so that is where we were…in her room…together. I couldn’t have been more thankful for that day…all of us in one room…happy. Thank God she is in remission now…and this Christmas will be at home.

The oddest Christmas I have ever had happened about 10 years ago. I was dating my now husband and we lived together at the time. We go over to his familys for a big holiday meal and to exchange gifts with everyone. She hands me my gift – mind you in front of everyone – and I unwrap it…Its a twin pack of paper towels!! ( I am not kidding) Ummm thanks? She said the design matched my sunflower theme in my kitchen. Okay… Yup that was it. I dont know if she didnt like my cleaning or me! lol. It was a long time ago and now we just laugh. I love her but sometimes…

I left Australia when i was 19 in december to go and live in Britian.
I had never seen snow before ad stood at the window for hours watching ic fall from the sky.
My hubby and I are both a bit odd, and I’m Christmas CRAZY, so every holiday has odd parts. I like to follow some of the archaic Christmas traditions like having wassail on the stove so that everyone who comes to the house over the twelve days of Christmas gets offerred a hot drink. (For luck, you know!) I also like to make as much food, drink and gifts as possible in the three or so months prior to Christmas. Some people find it odd to be offerred home-brewed gingerale, honey beer or beet wine when they come to call!

The oddest christmas we had was when 2 out of 3 of our kids were sick with the stomach flu. We went to go see grandma that morning and suddenly the two of them were vomiting in the bathroom sink at grandmas and she only has one bathroom:( I got them in the car to take them home (we were having christmas at our house that year) and we had to stop on the side of the road several times. There is nothing worse then being a kid and being sick on christmas:( Thanks for the great giveaway:)

Probably the most odd thing that has happened at Christmas time was when my mom worked with someone who couldn’t afford to buy her kids Christmas presents. It was odd to me because I still believed in Santa. We went out as a family to go get all kinds of Christmas presents for them and food. My dad ran up to their house with his hands completely full. He ran the doorbell and ran back to our car, which was a block and a half away. They never did find out it was us who gave them presents.

Well, I lived in Singapore for 2 years so Christmas was a little surreal and odd. To me, Christmas comes with evergreens and snow. In Singapore, it was fake snow, over the top decorations, heat and humidity. My first Christmas there, I went out for Korean food for lunch with a friend and then went to a museum for the afternoon. It was weird.

I don’t know this is odd but Last year I did not spend Christmas with my daughter. She went to Florida and it was so strange not having her with me. I missed her so much but I knew she was having the best time of her life.

I’m a nurse, so many odd Christmases with weird things happening to patients.
It’s not really odd, but I remember as a child going to grandma and grandpas on Christmas Eve and coming home to find that Santa had been there! I must have been around 5 or 6, not rally knowing if I believed anymore, so this made me believe again!! Our parents really tricked us that year!

Ok so weirdest Christmas Experience….. Last Christmas….. All snuggled in bed and at about 1AM I hear jingle bells and sounds of people/reindeer walking on the roof of my house. I woke up my husband and he heard it too. So I made him go out and check. As soon as he opened the front door the noises stopped. I thought OH GREAT A BURGLER…. when my hubbie came back, he told me there was no one there. The house was quiet for the rest of the night!
Every year my husband and I take the kids to a dollar store and let them pick gifts out for each other and for us. Last year my 2 1/2 year old picked out a red train toy for me. I was pretty surprised when I opened it and he was so excited to give it to me!
Odd Christmas was the first one w/ my first serious boyfriend’s (now an ex) family. There was lots of oddness and bickering within his family and I ended up having a few too many holiday drinks. Needless to say.. I fell down some stairs..way to make a great impression!
Wonderful Christmas was last year when my 5 week old daughter first slept through the night on Christmas Eve!

The first Christmas that we were married, I had just had our baby boy 1 week and a day before Christmas. Me and my husband could not agree which family to visit for Christmas (it was my families turn) but he wanted to see his family too. So about 4 days after having my baby boy, we travelled 6 hrs to my parents and about 3 days later left and travelled about 15 hrs to his parents. Needless to say I was done travelling for a while!!

My odd Christmas experience would be a couple years ago. My sister and I are Will Ferrel fans and were joking around in the mall about his Elf movie. I didnt think anyone would hear us so we screamed “Santa!”. Oddly enough the picture Santa heard us from around the corner and followed us. So we finally decided to take a funny picture.
One Christmas I drove to my parents’s house, and arrived early in the morning. Apparently they had forgotten I’d need to park in their driveway, and had left their car parked at the very entrance, leaving me no space. Having had my car towed once by their association for forgetting to display a parking pass, which I did not have this Christmas morning, I did not want to leave my car on the street. Nor did I want to waken my senior citizen parents in the wee hours of the morning so they could come out and move their car. Instead I drove to an all-night diner, and spent the first hours of Christmas morning there, waiting for my folks to wake up. I had lots of interesting company.

One year when I was young my family decided to have pork tenderloin and fried potatoes on Christmas. I hated that b/c the tradition always meant so much to me. Oh well it is not the food that matters anyway.

It not so much odd as it is heartbreaking for a 10 year old. One year my parents were really strapped for cash. My sister and I each had asked Santa for a game and two other small things. We were extremely shy around Santa….so we hardly ever rambled off a huge list to him. That year, under the tree was exactly what we asked for. A game for each of us and the two other things. We knew that Santa wasn’t real then…because in the past, even when we asked for a few things…he always brought more stuff. We actually asked out parents is Santa was real and they told us the truth. We felt so bad for hoping for more stuff. I learned a lot that day..it’s not about the gifts, but being together. I am usually a good cook but one Christmas everything went wrong. The turkey tasted greasy and the drippings were just full of fat and it wasn’t because it was a Butterball, I stuffed the turkey so the stuffing was awful and greasy too, and the dinner rolls didn’t rise properly and were like hockey pucks. The only things that were good were the fruit salad and the veggies because I don’t think you can ruin those things.

The oddest Christmas experience I had was when we visited my family in Missouri prior to Christmas and left a few days before Christmas to head back home. A few hours in to the trip home it started to snow pretty heavily, figuring it couldn’t possibly go from no snow to a ton of snow we thought we’d push through and get back to NC with just an hour or two delay…boy were we wrong. The snow kept coming and coming and coming. By early afternoon we were in Evansville, Indiana literally snowed on to the highway – opening the window we could put soda cans at arm level in the snow drifts. We spent TWO DAYS snowed on to that highway with an 80lb labrador in the back of a compact car. We managed to get home late on Christmas Eve but I refuse to drive in the snow now! We ended up getting out of the drifts when local farmers brought their tractors out to tow us all across the median!

Unusual Christmas?
Hmmm. I remember when I was little, it was Christmas eve, and was trying to sneak downstairs to see what was going on. I didn’t realize at the time my parents were having a few friends over.
Just as I hit the bottom of the stairs, and was ready to peek my head around the corner, I heard a very loud “HO HO HO!”
For fear of being caught, I dashed upstairs and hid under the covers.
I found out a few years later, it was a family friend dropping by and that was his greeting.
When I was a kid I used to unwrap my gifts carefully at one end to see what they were then tape them back. One day I went to unwrap one and my mom had her initials on the tape in permanent marker. I knew then she had caught me and was protecting the present, I was busted. LOL

A couple years ago we had my husbands side of the family over and in WI you normally have snow on Christmas. At least on the ground anyway. Well we had no snow. Just brown grass. It didn’t really make it feel like Christmas. Sorry that’s as odd as I can get. LOL

The first year I was married we went to my husband’s family for christmas dinner, they are hispanic, so for dinner we had pork, white rice and beans. To me this was odd for I am so used to my mom’s traditional christmas dinner.

I once flew out to visit my boyfriend in CA for Christmas break…flights were cheaper on Christmas…so I flew that day…but he had to work…So I had to sit in a practically empty airport for 2 hours by myself before he got there.

Last year my daughter had a tonsillectomy on December 18th. Christmas Day was the first day she ventured out of the house, although she still wasn’t eating. That night she ended up in the ER.
when my cat was younger she got tangled in the christmas lights took off running and the tree spun around ornaments flying evrywhere and the tree fell over funny

When I was 5, my grandmother took me to see Santa in the town square. Every child got to sit on his lap and tell him their Christmas wish, then got a little bag of goodies “straight from the North Pole” to take home. When I looked in my goodie bag I burst into tears because in addition to the coloring book and crayons and other little Christmas doo-dads, there was an orange. I knew oranges didn’t come from the North Pole and therefore Santa must not be real. I was inconsolable for days.
I guess the oddest Christmas would be flying out to see my then boyfriend an he didnt want his family to know about us yet so we hid the whole week,wasnt very merry for sure,but this was a longggggg time ago

I had an odd christmas experience when I put a gift under the tree for my hubby and it completely disappeared! I looked everywhere for it. Several years later, I found it taped under our dining room table. It is the strangest thing I have ever seen. Thanks for the chance.

Odd Christmas experience…My X husband THEN boyfriend and I were driving to his house with a car heading straight at us durning a white out …..we thought that we were going to be in a wreck welllll, we weren’t and we turned around to see if the other car was okay and the car was no where to be found….that was ODD but I think it was a miracle

I don’t know how odd this is but pretty funny I had a room mate with a teenage son who had wrapped all his girlfriends presents, had them under the tree, the next day we got home and the dog had opened all the presents but only the ones for his girlfriend which were all lingere and he was a little embaressed by it, we still laugh about it 10 years later

Odd Christmas story… I don’t know how odd this is, but maybe just different. Our family has such a huge Christmas celebration, and we have so many presents under the tree that we have to rent a hall to have our celebration in!!
Odd perhaps… but I still believe in Santa, or at least keeping the spirit of him alive.

I had 2 bunionectomies on the 20th of December two years ago. I couldn’t go anywhere for Christmas so we had it here. It was chaotic and I couldn’t see naything around the tree. Bummer and the day after Christmas I had the other 2 buinonectomies.

Odd? You be the judge. My sisters and I can’t wait for Christmas morning, so we exchange our gifts between each other on Christmas Eve. We’ve done it for a long time, and it’s just a funny tradition now. Our husbands all laugh at us, but we love stealing away for a little while on Christmas Eve to do our exchange.

My dad hated real Christmas trees, so when he went out of town a few days before Christmas my mom went out and bought a live tree. My dad called to see how things were going and while my mom was talking to him the tree tipped over, water went EVERYWHERE and soaked all the ornaments, carpet, and furniture. My mom let out a huge gasp and when my dad asked her what was wrong she told him the dog peed on the carpet!!

I sometimes procrastinate and last year I waited so late that what my daughter wanted for Christmas was all out. Every single store was sold out! So I freaked out and had to come up with a plan B! I won’t procrastinate like that again!

The Christmas that my daughter was about 4 I had used a tissue box to wrap a present for her. She took off the wrappings, saw that it was a box of tissue, sat it down and said Thank you for the tissues mommy. My heart broke and still does just thinking she thought that was all she got.

One year my uncle gave my step-dad a flying bird he had carved…and the head looked a lot like a, erm, penis. What was most hilarious and awkward about it was we weren’t sure if it was a joke or not, so nobody really laughed (until after he went home – then we giggled til we cried!!!).

A few years ago at a family Christmas party my aunt thought she would make it more “elegant” by putting candles on the table. My grandma, who complains about everything and never likes any of her presents, went to open a gift in a bag and set the tissue paper right on a candle. The tissue paper caught on fire really fast and the flames were hitting the ceiling so we all started throwing out drinks on it and my cousin took pictures. Sadly, it was our most exciting family party ever
We used to make gingerbread houses when we were kids. Mom would put them on the mantle in the living room. One year we went to church and our boxer decided she was hugry and managed to pull all three houses down and consume most of them by the time we got home lol

I had only being dating my husband for about 3 mths when we celebrated our first x-mas together. It was also the first time I was meeting any of his family. I was bending over tying my shoes and his mom yelled out “You have a tattoo”. I have tattoo on my lower back of a tiger and he didn’t tell me that she hated tattoo’s. I felt so ackward and thought she hated me. Turned out it wasn’t that big of a deal after all and she never said anything again.

When I was a child, my little brother got a puppy for Christmas. I couldn’t believe it when I saw “Patches” walk under our real Christmas tree, lift his leg, and christen the tree. I couldn’t believe a puppy knew to lift his leg like a grown dog does. I scolded the puppy and my brother cried. I told my brother he should have named him “Puddles” and I was laughing hysterically until my Mom told me to clean it up.

About 10 years ago or so my oldest son & his wife & son were snowed in at our place for Christmas. They only lived about five miles away but the roads were awful, so they just stayed. It was nice having all my kids there for Christmas, as well as my grandson.

On Christmas Day last year, I was getting the little one ready to go visit with family. When we went outside, we saw a caterpillar going across the front walkway. Now, I don’t know about where you all are from, but here in Atlantic Canada, that is just NOT normal
One of the few years it actually snowed here in GA around Christmas my brother in law and I grabbed some cardboard boxes, smooshed them flat and used them as sleds–we live in the South and have NEVER owned a real sled!

We moved Dec.1 from California to Ontario, Canada and I only had 24 days to prepare a boxed up house and buy gifts for my two children ages 10 yrs and 18 mths after my ex filed for divorce and walked out on us. I was in emotional shock. Somehow myself, my sister and my 10 yr old got the tree up Dec. 22 and we moved into the house the same day after staying with my sister and family just in time to share our 1st christmas as a new kind of family! God blessed us that year.
my only story was my wife and i slept in because we were up till 5 wrapping and when we woke up all the presents were unwrapped, we were so mad-we missed it for trying hard

I think the oddest Christmas experience I had was when I worked in a plant nursery and gift shop. On Christmas Eve, after we closed, the employees would run and grab all the pointsettias we could carry – the annual pointsettia run.

The oddest Christmas gift I’ve ever received came from my father’s girlfriend. She bought and wrapped a 6-pack of corn… you know, like what you buy from a warehouse store. I was about 18 years old at the time. She said she only knew that I liked corn.

When I was little my dad used to take Christmas home movies with his Super 8 movie camera. One year we made a Christmas adventure movie where family members disappeared and reappeared around the house and presents moved by themselves. It was very crude, but to a little kid like me it was true magic. Thanks for the chance to win.
I can remember a Christmas at my Grandmother’s where the temperature outside was in the 70’s – it’s memorable & remarkable because we live in the Northeast and by Christmas time we are usually freezing & waiting for the snow to fall.

Christmas has always been very special for me. My first Christmas working at Disneyland at 18 I had to give a guided tour on what is the most crowded day of the year. The three hour tour took about 8 hours and my entire Christmas. I was on the verge of tears the entire time because I really wanted to be with my family. At the end of the tour one of the guests from the midwest offered me a $5 tip. Our policy was to say no (at least once) and then we could accept the tip. I said, “Oh no sir, it has been my pleasure.” With that, he and the other guests who were about to tip me, all put their tips back in their pockets and walked away. Merry Christmas, indeed!

An odd Christmas for me was Christmas 2006 when it was so warm (we live in Colorado but grew up in Montana) that we wore short sleeve shirts on Christmas day. It was odd to not have a white Christmas.

Ok well one christmas my father in law brings this horrid leather jacket (very old and not cool looking) over to my house and proceeds to give it to me. He goes on and on about how great it is and how expensive it must have been. All this time I think he is joking (he usually has great taste!)and I burst out laughing really really hard, tears are coming out of my eyes! After I’ve had a good laugh I look over at him to realize that he’s not kidding at all, he meant it! Awkward silence follows!!!

one year my former mother in law gave me a trash bag full of her 20 year old clothes as a gift. It was humiliating, but it has led to many oddball gifts back and forth that are a huge source of laughter at the family get together.
One of my favorite holiday traditions is making dozens and dozen of Christmas cookies, decorating them and bringing them to our local soup kitchen throughout the holiday season. Right now there are so many more children who have to rely on the soup kitchen so it makes us want to make dozens and dozens more.

One year, my former mother in law gave my 3 daughters a chia pet – yes, one chia pet to share. They were not a new thing, and my kids were 7, 4 and 4 months old at the time. This was her only gift for them that year. Such love.

Nothing really odd has happened to me….except the year we went looking at lights as a family and we saw lots of the reindeer at one house….humping each other…I thought it was funny….no so for all the kids that saw it

Odd.. hmmm how about the year we spent MOVING on Christmas… Or the year I went home to visit family for Christmas and when I came back found out my roommate moved out and took EVERYTHING but my cat… Good memories..
Although this isn’t odd to most, it sure was to me. Every Christmas we always have tons of snow but 2 years ago, we had none, notta. Green grass was everywhere. I loved it. For once, we didn’t have to trudge through all that snow with the kids and gifts. A few days later we had one heck of a snow storm. Go figure.

One year I woke up and saw Santa footprints in my house. Till this day I believe it was him. I was about 5-7 at the time.
Can’t think of anything too out of the ordinary, except when I was a kid and I would snoop and find presents before Christmas and spoil my surprises.

We went to church on Christmas Day when I was 8 years old and came home to find that our house had been robbed. The house was trashed and our valuables stolen. It was a horrible experience but I still remember how brave my parents were and how they tried to not upset us. They reinforced what Christmas was really about.

Well. My father is a paramedic, and he worked EVERY single christmas
growing up. So last Christmas, at age 19, that was the first Christmas my father was able to spend with us.

When I still believed in Santa, one Christmas eve I wroke up sick and throwing up. I went to call Mother and they were all out side with the car trunks up. My uncle was coming up the stairs with games with a wagon in one hand and a tricycle in the other. That’s what my little brother had asked for. He tryed to get back down the steps with me seeing him but I did. I was so sick that it didn’t all register until the next morning and I saw them under the tree and I remembered seeing my uncle with them, I never let on for a few years and Santa kept coming until my little brother no longer believed.

I remember when I was about 7, my dad took me to Mass on Christmas Eve and I remember when I came home there was a perfume making kits for girls and I felt that I had a million dollars because it was all that my parents could afford and I loved it. That was 50 years ago.

One Christmas we gave my son a spiderman phone but he refused to take it out of the manufacturers box, which it still is in but he still does play with it
My kids don’t like any of the “traditional” holidays foods, so last year for Christmas we made an oriental dinner! We had rice, lamb, dumplings, and other oriental dishes. My kids loved it and it was fun to make! A little out of the ordinary, but still a great Christmas!

The oddest and most wonderful was that we got snow for Christmas. We live in Southern California and it was the best Christmas ever!

an odd christmas story i had was when i was 10yrs old my mother woke me and my sister up at 9pm 2 nights before christmas and let us open up our gifts early.then on christmas we had nothing to open but christmas night my mother had a suprise gift for us,a $1,000 shopping spree to toy’s r us!!

One of the oddest (and funniest) Christmas mornings I had was when I was around 8 years old. My brother and I each got a desk for Christmas. In each of the drawers and on top of the desks were our wrapped gifts. I was finished opening my gifts when I found one more at the bottom of a drawer. I was excited…until I unwrapped it and found a box with a model airplane kit inside. Boy, was I mad! It was for my brother, and “Santa” goofed up!
We had a Christmas tree out of a big branch from a tree before.

It was 1978 I believe. Christmas day and it was about 80 degrees. This might be okay if it was in Florida but this was in Chicago. I was so bummed out. We went to my uncles and I wore shorts. It felt more like the 4th of July than Christmas.

Several Christmases ago, our family gathered at my sister’s house for dinner and to open presents. When we opened the gifts, a neighbor kid who came over started walking out of the house with our presents. My dad followed her and got those gifts back. But, it turned out that when all the children from both sides of the family checked out their gifts later, money, that had been given to them from their grandparents as part of their gift, was missing from each of the kids envelopes!
