Christmas Gift Idea for Pregnant or Nursing Women

Early pregnancy and breastfeeding have certainly rewired my perception of what breast tenderness is all about. In the first trimester I was famous for my A-framed hugs, making sure no pressure ever came near my chest. When my milk came in, I thought I was going to burst. Hot, cracked and swollen are not words you would like to use to describe your breasts. The early days in my breastfeeding career were painful and far from the serene, natural picture I had painted in my mind’s eye. Forget A-framed hugs, at that time there wasn’t any way anyone could get within five feet of the front of me.

Belmama and Cherub is a Californian based on-line shop that offers a thoughtful selection of gifts for mother and babe. For review, I received The Shower Hug, a burp cloth and facecloth. The Shower Hug is the perfect treat (and necessity) for any mother, regardless of whether or not she has decided to breastfeed. It is a band of terry velour that fits snugly (or not, depending on your needs) around your torso, securing and protecting your breasts while in the shower, to help reduce the discomfort of water pelting your very tender breasts. Not surprising that this treat was created by a mother who obviously understands that you have to take your little moments of relief however and wherever you can.

The Shower Hug is very easy to use, even when you are tired, tired, tired. It closes with a large strip of Velcro at one end, making it easy to put on and take off. The Velcro gives a nice, secure fit that does not give way over time – it also makes The Shower Hug adjustable for when your breasts change shape and size with pregnancy and feeding. The Shower Hug not only protects against irritating spray but it holds in the heat while you are in the shower, giving you a little relaxation. By the way, I would fully recommend using this if you have breast tenderness during your cycle too. I would also use this in place of a bra during breastfeeding and pregnancy – the fit is quite comfortable and gave a surprising amount of support to my midback. Belmama and Cherub also suggests using The Shower Hug while sleeping to prevent night time leaking, to hold ice or heat packs in place, to wear around your midsection to help support c-section incisions and to protect the area from irritating chemicals from beauty products while you are in the shower. Belmama and Cherub provide a sizing chart on their website to ensure you get the proper fit. Quick tip: make sure you close the Velcro band before throwing it in the wash so that it doesn’t pick your other clothes.

The Belmama and Cherub burp cloth and facecloth are made of the same soft terry velour, all edged in a delicate pink. My daughter loves the softness, so I make sure that I use this particular washcloth on her face – I am not sure that it cuts down on her wriggling while I am trying to clean her up, but there is less screaming!

This post appears to recieve a great deal of visitors. How do you get traffic to it? It gives a nice unique twist on things. I guess having something authentic or substantial to post about is the most important thing.
