I am amazed by my son, everyday is a new adventure just waiting to unfold. He is constantly trying new things as well as trying to perfect the things he knows. You can see the concentration in his face when attempting anything challenging and it makes me laugh. At 8 months old, he has such determination, I hope he always puts so much effort in everything he tries to accomplish.  At present, he is trying to master standing up without falling, trying pieces of food instead of  mush and last not least, the ever daunting sippy cup. Some days are better than others. The falling part is one of those facets of parenting that I have to accept, trying new foods will come when it is supposed to and the sippy cup is being mastered a little bit at a time.

We received for review the Foogo® Sippy Cup from Thermos®Thermos® has been around for a long time, its a company most of us recognize and trust. We love our Foogo® sippy cup for many reasons;  both the function and the form were well thought out. Firstly, it is double handled and easy to grasp. As the mother of a child who is learning to use a sippy cup, one handle just doesn’t cut it. This way he is learning how to hold  the cup as well as learning  how to drink from it. The spout is spill proof so he doesn’t get soaked as he is learning, and it is made from a soft material which doesn’t hurt his gums as he chews on it. I believe  its ok for him to chew on it because all materials are FDA approved and all the plastics are BPA free. The sippy cup comes in both blue/yellow and pink/purple. The exterior and interior is unbreakable stainless steel which is dishwasher safe (extra bonus) and you may think it would be heavy but it is really quite light (0.7 lbs).

In addition to being super kid friendly with its form, the function is exactly the kind of quality product we have come to know and love from  Thermos® products. The Foogo® Sippy cup is ideally suited for keeping cold drinks cold, it keeps drinks cool for up to 6 hours.

This is important as food borne illness can occur with food and drink when they are not kept at their optimal temperature. Studies done by Cornell University studied the rate of bacterial growth when liquids reach room temperature. Other comparable  sippy cups reached room temp after four hours and the Thermos® sippy Cup reached room temp after 16 hours.  The study determined bacteria can grow almost 4 times faster at 70°F (room temp) compared to 40°F (ideal fridge temp) and can quickly increase to levels that are capable of causing food borne illness when the food is consumed by infants. Just some food…I mean drink for thought.

Thermos® began in 1904 and since then they have been a worldwide leader in innovative products for almost a century and have an incredible assortment of products. Some of our family favorites include the Thermos® beverage bottles that we all know and love, funky water bottles featuring pop culture icons such as Hannah Montana and Batman and beautifully designed food storage containers; they keep food hot for up to five hours and cold for seven hours.

This is the perfect container for bringing your food anywhere; picnics, play dates, work as it uses double wall vacuum insulation for maximum temperature retention, hot or cold. Also in unbreakable stainless steel, it is cool to the touch with hot foods, sweat-proof with cold. Ahhh…form, function and beauty.
