Everyone who has young children, should now know about things like lead, BPA, and other toxins that have recently been found in many popular children products. As a parent, this is a very serious concern. I worry about things like Mercury in vaccinations, but for some people lead based paint on children’s toys doesn’t seem to even make it to their radar. I can tell you, it is very high on my radar, and I want to make sure that the products my daughter are going to be putting into her mouth are safe for her.
A new website, Squeaky Clean Tot focuses on all things natural, organic and toxin free – perfect for a Mother like me, that wants to ensure my child stays clear from anything that can harm her. The website has a unique feature that allows parents to write reviews and rate toxin free products. Tina and her husband came up with this idea after their daughter was born in 2008. She developed eczema at a very young age due to the products used for tub time. After a quick change in products, her eczema cleared. Then after all the BPA publicity, Tina decided to switch all of the every day products, such as spoons and sippy cups over to BPA Free items.
In case you want to know what exactly BPA is, here is what Wikipedia has to say (my source for everything)
sBisphenol A, commonly abbreviated as BPA, is an organic compound with two phenol functional groups. It is a difunctional building block of several important plastics and plastic additives. With an annual production of 2–3 million metric tonnes, it is an important monomer in the production of polycarbonate.
Suspected of being hazardous to humans since the 1930s, concerns about the use of bisphenol A in consumer products were regularly reported in the news media in 2008 after several governments issued reports questioning its safety, and some retailers have removed products made of it from their shelves.

It’s incredible that it has been suspected since the 1930’s that BPA is harmful to humans, yet it continues to show up in products.
Squeaky Clean Tot also has a section on their website that lists all the nasty things that are still commonly found in products, and what their effects are on people. If you have a child that is showing signs like eczema, it may be the products they are using and not be hereditary or generic. Like Tina, a simple change in products can do wonders for your children’s health (and your own, while your at it).

There is also a a cloth diapering section on the Squeaky Clean Tot website. I cloth diaper my daughter and have had no problems at all. Many people are afraid to cloth diaper because they think it will be a lot more work. Cloth diapering has been very easy, one or 2 more washes a week. I recently heard in one of my Mommy groups, that disposable diapers are now suppose to be kept out the same room that children are sleeping in. I could hardly believe this statement because the children are sitting in their diaper 24/7. I am glad that cloth diapering is part of our regime because my daughters health outweighs the little tiny bit of inconvenience of doing a wash.
Squeaky Clean Tot is an excellent recourse for parents to research safe products, and to also add their thoughts to helps other parents out that want real and honest reviews on all things natural.
