Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the first animated movie in American and also the first movie with a soundtrack. It is also one of the first Disney movies I remember watching as a child. On October 6th, the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Diamond Edition came out on DVD and Blu-ray all in one package.
Watching the DVD brings back some amazing memories. Especially hearing the songs such as “Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it’s off to work we go.” These are phrases and songs that have become common in every day language. It is sometimes easy to forget where these popular sayings come from. I’m sure as time goes on and I continue to watch Disney films with my daughter, there will be many bells going off into my head as to where those phrases originate. Snow White is also the first Disney Princess who introduces us to a Prince, but not just any Prince -the original Prince Charming! I can remember singing “Someday My Prince Will Come” as a young girl. And of course who can forget the silly little men that Snow White ends up with? I think we all know someone in our lives that remind us of Sneezy, Sleepy, Dopey, Doc, Happy, Bashful and Grumpy. I think it’s these characters that really make Snow White movie what it is today.

As for the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Diamond Edition that I was sent for review, I found the the sound and music quality have been enhanced. I remember the original movie sound and music were a little “fuzzy”. I enjoyed listening to the old songs and found that they are more crisp than I remember as a child.

I throughly enjoyed watching this movie. I did watch it by myself because I do think there are a few too many scary parts for a 1 year old. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Diamond Edition is a must have for any family library.
