Skitter Toys – Ride on Car – CLOSED

by Mommy on October 13, 2009

One thing I can never understand is seniors on skateboards or other  mobile devices.  I can understand that they usually want to feel young, and think they can stay on, but more often than not they end up on Americas Funniest Home videos. There is one mobile toy that is fun and safe. Young or old, Skitter Toys is fun for everyone!

The Skitter is an award winning toy that is also mommy bloggers number 1 choice – and I can see why.  The Skitter is a non battery operated toy that is like a mix of a ride on toy/tricycle/bicycle.  It arrives in a box and instructions, it took my husband less than 10 minutes to get the Skitter together and ready for play.

The  Skitter will give your family hours of fun.  It’s so simple to use as well.  The real way to use the Skitter is to sit on it, and let your own strength do the rest by turning the wheel back and forth to get a momentum going.  It does work – really well, and I can see why some people have said they lost weight by doing this.  After just a few minutes of pumping back and forth, I could feel it in my arms and my core!  It takes a little bit of practice to get it right, but in no time, I was able to get a good rhythm going.

The other options are to just sit down and either push a little with your feet a little, have a friend push, or find a little bit of a hill.  The steering wheel makes turning pretty easy and gets you into the right direction.  The Skitter is a little bit too big for DD, but we did put her on (inside the house) and pushed her around.  She had a  huge smile on her face. She can push with her feet a little and ends up going backwards.  The Skitter is going to be a huge hit in our neighbourhood, we have a tonne of kids around, so I am sure there is going to be a local kid fight to play with the Skitter. If you have more than one child, I would suggest getting 2.

The Skitter is a great invention because anybody can use it, and children do not have to be afraid of failure.  Riding a bike is difficult, and many kids don’t want to use training wheels to learn because they don’t want to be seen as a baby. The Skitter is also good for children that may have disabilities that would not allow them to use a bike.  The Skitter takes very little skill, and is low to the ground, so there is little worry.  This is great for children that otherwise would not be able to experience the fun of being on a mobile device.

This is a toy that all ages will enjoy!  I’m sure the dad’s and mom’s will be spending as much time testing out the Skitter as the kids.

Would be great for both my 5 year old grandson and 12 year old nephew. A perfect way to get them off their duffs, away from their video games and start exercising by having just plain fun. In time my 9 month old granddaughter will be ready for one too.

I learned that in the beginning, Skitter and Plasma Car were from the same manufacturer. I thought it looked familiar. Thanks for the giveaway.

It’s used in children’s hospitals, rehab and therapeutic centers as part of their therapy process to help in developing core muscle, upper body and balance on a safe toy with proper instruction and supervision. The kids have fun and develop confidence.

The Skitter is best used on level, smooth, hard surfaces (concrete, hardwood floors, tile). We have developed custom manufactured polyurethane wheels that increase the ride comfort, style and ease of maneuvering your Skitter
