Humans and animals alike have a natural instinct to have families. In the new movie Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs, Sid the lovable sloth has a natural feeling of being a parent after his mammoth friends Manny and Ellie are due to have a mini mammoth of their own. In the process of trying to become a parent, Sid comes across a few nearly hatched eggs, which turn out to belong to a t-rex. The adventure brings them to a “new” (or old) world which the characters never knew existed.
Here is a little synopsis of the movie:
Manny, Sid, Diego and Ellie are back for more pre-hysterical hijinks when Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs stomps onto Three-Disc Blu-ray Disc/DVD Combo Pack October 27 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. The third film in the outrageously popular Ice Age franchise, the sub-zero heroes return another wild and fun adventure. Scrat is still trying to nab the ever-elusive nut (while maybe finding true love); Manny and Ellie await the birth of their mini-mammoth; Diego the saber-toothed tiger wonders if he’s growing too “soft” hanging with his pals and Sid the sloth gets into trouble when he creates his own makeshift family by hijacking some dinosaur eggs. On a mission to rescue the hapless Sid, the gang ventures into a mysterious underground world, where they have some close encounters with dinosaurs, battle flora and fauna, run amuck, and meet a relentless, one-eyed dino-hunting weasel named Buck.
My favourite character in the movie is Scrat, watching him trying to get his acorn throughout the movie is so comical. While nearly reaching the acron that he forever seems to be chasing, Scrat encounters a bit of an obstacle - a lady – Scratte (how fitting). I also enjoy Sids innocence, and the baby dino’s that get into lots of trouble and baby Peaches, the tiny mammoth is also adorable.
The movie maybe a little too scary for the younger children, there are lots of teeth and loud dinosaur screams. But the older kids and parents are sure to enjoy the comical and exciting movie.
There is also a neat bonus feature, where you can hear commentary from the creators. If you like knowing a little more about a movie, you will really enjoy tihis feature. It’s really interesting to hear what the creators have to say and why they chose the things they did. I liked learning about Scratte.
Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs came out on DVD Oct 27th.
