When pregnancy hit, my hair started to do some pretty crazy things. It continued to misbehave for the next nine months and then all throughout the time that I was breastfeeding; the problem persists even now. I did not start pregnancy with a great head of hair, just the opposite. I now find myself in need of some extra help in the hair department… a lot of help.

shavegelI received the Depth Ocean Blossom Shave Gel, Drench Hydrating Shampoo and Submerse Deep Conditioner for review. Depth is one of those companies that you can feel fantastic about buying from. For starters, their products are made with mostly organic ingredients. This is great news, considering a large percentage of what you put on your body ends up in your body. The products are SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) free, a popular foaming agent which can potentially cause skin irritation and other negative health effects. Depth uses natural aromas, so sensitive noses are not as affected. The ingredients list is 100% vegetarian (thank you, Depth!), contains no artificial colouring and has not been tested on animals. Depth’s products have been recognized as a Whole Foods Premium Product, a distinction awarded to only the purest products. The containers are made from recycled water bottles and the graphics have been minimally silk-screened on the bottle. Both of Depth’s Californian founders studied marine biology, so it is no wonder that even the thoughtful bottle design was inspired by what lives beneath our waters – the shampoo and conditioner bottles are tapered to look like kelp blades.products_small7

As if all of the above weren’t enough, Depth also gives a percentage of their sales to Camp SEA Lab, a non-profit camp in Monterey Bay, California. Camp Sea Lab offers authentic marine experiences to underserved children, instilling in them a sense of love and respect for the sea.campsealablogo

It is easy to get side-tracked with all of Depth’s goodness, so I apologize that it has taken me so long in this review to get to how the products work. In a word: fabulous. The shave cream was rich; I really liked that it contains aloe vera, to help moisturize my skin (shaving does take a toll, after all). The shampoo smells yummy and the conditioner is a beautiful thick blend that did wonders for my yucky hair. Depth offers other hair care products to suit different hair types and beauty products like body wash and soap.
