I love the taste and smell of freshly made cookies, bread, muffins and anything else that is baked.  The only problem is, I am a terrible baker.  I don’t even bother trying to bake things because I always mess up the recipe.  I get tablespoon and teaspoon mixed up all the time, and can’t remember if I added things into a recipe so I will add things twice (you get the picture).  I buy all my baked goods from the grocery store, and they are pretty tasty, but not nearly as good as anything my grandmother can make from scratch.  Thanks to The Lazy Baker, I can now make delicious treats that people want to eat!

The Lazy Baker has been created for people just like me – who don’t know how to bake, or for people that do know how to bake and just hate the preparation and the clean up (does anyone like the clean up?).  For review The Lazy Baker send me the Chocolate chip cookie mix – my favourite!  The mix came in a round tall can with 2 packages.  One package had all the dry ingredients and the other had the chocolate chips.  The only thing I needed to add into the dry mix was butter, an egg and vanilla.  I have to admit, I was a little skeptical that I would have any vanilla in my cupboards, but after just a few minutes of searching, I had more than enough for the recipe.  If I have vanilla in my cupboards, every kitchen in North American MUST have vanilla!  I put all my ingredients together, mixed with my hands till there were no lumps, added the chocolate chips and then my cookies were ready to be baked.

I made a little roll of dough that was about an inch thick, and put 12 on a cookie sheet about 2 or 3 inches apart.  I then put the timer on my oven and waited for 11 minutes.  The package says 10 – 12 minutes so I thought I would go right in the middle just in case.  I then went and watched TV.  11 minutes later, the alarm went off, and I found that the cookies were not quite as golden brown as I would have liked them to be, so I let them cook for 30 more seconds.  They still were not golden brown, but I was scared that the bottoms would be burnt so I took them out.  All 12 cookies were cooked all the way through, and not burnt at all on the bottom.  Learning from my first batch, I left the second batch in for 12 minutes and they came out perfect!

The cookies were delicious and no one – I MEAN NO ONE, could beleive that I made these.  We had a few people drop by and all 24 the cookies were gone in less than 48 hours.  That is how good they are.

I can not believe how easy it was to make the The Lazy Baker cookies.  The best part was how easy clean up was, I just had to throw out the package and I had one mixing bowl and a teaspoon to clean.  If you love the taste of home made, but do not have the talent or patience The Lazy Baker is for you.  No one will ever know that you didn’t make these from scratch.
