A birthday day is very special. I’m not too sure what happened the year I was born let alone the day. When this next company contacted me for a review, I was very excited to receive a Birthday Keepsake® for DD. I tried to find things in the news myself to include in her baby book, but the items I received from Birthday Keepsakes are way better than anything I could come up with myself.
I received a few items from Birthday Keepsakes, the first is the keepsake design. I had to first type in all my daughters information online, including her name, birthday, hospital, and birthplace (all this information except the name and birthday is optional). There was also a section where I could type in that DD has been named after her Great Great Grandmother. I was also able to include the accent in DD’s name above the 3rd E. I try to do this with all her official documents. When I received my Birthday Keepsake, I loved reading not only the information that I had to input into the document, but also all the interesting facts about the day, month and year that she was born in. It also had a list of famous people that were born on her birthday, popular tv shows, sports events champs, and even the price of gas, among and many other very interesting facts. So, when someone says I remember when gas was 10 cents, she will have some real proof about how much a gallon of gas was the year she was born. The only down side to the Birthday Keepsake is that it is all American information – and I am in Canada. It would have been nice to have the gas converted from gallons to liters. But for such an amazing keepsake to frame and put up in my daughters room, it’s just a small price to pay. As a Canadian (and probably as many Canadians will admit), I am quite used to a lot of facts being quoted in American terms.
I also received a Name Wish Poem from Birthday Keepsakes. The poem came in the same border so I have two matching pictures to hang on DD’s wall. The name poem used each letter of DD’s name and makes a positive statement about what each letter means in her name. The poem also rhymes. At the end of the poem it says her full name and her birthday. I liked the idea of the Name Wish Poem so much, I got another one for my nephew.
I also received a personalized place mat from Birthday Keepsakes. This once again is customized as you choose. I was able to write anything I wanted to on the front of the place mat. One thing that I remember reading in a parenting book is to encourage kids to eat their supper by telling them they can have something other than dessert when finish their meal. If you say “you can have ice cream after you finish your peas” they will think that the ice cream is the good food, and the peas are yucky. So, to encourage DD to eat her supper or lunch, I thought it would be nice to have something as a visual reminder to encourage her to eat. So, on her placemat I put “After you finish your dinner, you can go outside to play!” In this case, playing is the reward for finishing her meal, and not ice cream. The other side of the place mat is the alphabet, with upper and lower case litters and a little picture of an item that starts with that letter, and numbers. So,while your child eats, they can also learn their alphabet and numbers. The mat is laminated so it can easily be wiped down.

These looks so wonderful! I would use the certificate to get one of these for each of my children, my husband and myself, because I just think having that info would be amazing! I, too, tried to gather info when my son was born, and didn’t do a very good job. The only person that is famous (to me and his kids) is my husband.
