Bamboo Baby Gear – Shopping Cart Cover – CLOSED

I’m not overly protective with germs, but there are a few things that I will not touch in public. Washroom doors, escalator railings, and especially bedspreads at hotels. Another thing that I always knew carried a lot of germs, but really had no option but to touch is shopping cart handles. There really is no option other than to push the shopping cart by the handle – so I would always make sure to wash my hands after a shopping trip. Now that I have a little one, I am a little bit more protective with germy things than I used to be. Thankfully, there is a solution to the super germy shopping cart handle, the cart cozy!

bamboobabygear2 Bamboo Baby Gear specializes in bamboo cart cozies. The shopping cart cover goes right over top of the seat area and has 2 little holes for legs, and a safety clip as well so your child will not come out of the shopping cart. I received a cart cozy from Bamboo Baby Gear in a super modern dots fabric on one side and a chocolate brown on the other. The cart cozy has an elastic all the way around perimeter, so when pulled over the cart it stays in place and does not move around. The holes for the legs were positioned at the perfect place from my daughters legs to go through and the best part is, the strap hooks around the front of your child, and then passes through the back side of the shopping cart, and the clips actually meet in the back so there is no chance of your child getting to them. We all know how smart kids are these days so with the clip in the back, there is no chance of them getting their fingers to the clips to unhook the safety strap. The cart cozy also adds a little bit of padding on her bum too.

I love shopping with DD in my Bamboo Baby Gear cart cozy. It makes me feel like a very responsible parent. Shopping carts are one of the germiest things our hands will touch in a day. Sure us adults can fight off the bacteria, but little babies aren’t as strong as we are. When I see other children in shopping carts with drippy noses, drooly mouths and disgusting hands, I am so thankful that I have a cart cozy to keep DD safe from all the grossness. I also get a lot of compliments from people who admire the Bamboo Baby Gear cart cozy.

The Bamboo Baby Gear cart cozy also works in restaurant highchairs as well. The elastic around the cozy allows for the cozy to fit over different sizes and different shaped items. I’m sure highchairs in restaurants are just as full of germs as shopping carts. The Bamboo Baby Gear cart cozy folds down into a package, and the clip that keeps the child in the cart becomes the clip that keeps the cart cozy folded together. It is a little bit large, but I just keep it in the car so it is ready any time we go shopping (which is almost everyday) or go to a restaurant. There is also a little pocket in the front and a little attachment to clip toys onto. The Bamboo Baby Gear cart cozy also comes in its own little bamboo handbag so it could be stored in there too. It works out great because when I pull the cart cozy out of the bag to be used, I instantly have a reusable bag for shopping.

It was 3 years ago and people stopped me everywhere asking where I got such a thing. It kept my hands clean too. This bamboo one is really nice. With my second on the way, a nice one like this would be amazing.

I have three dogs and a baby and a husband so needless to say messes happen – thing is I am slightly anal retentive about cleanliness and am constantly cleaning, to the point where when friends and family come over it looks like no one lives here. I think some parents are overly protective of germs which can actually have the adverse effect. I was raised on a farm- around dirt, pigs, poo, reptiles I use to pick up and play with, bug, etc. I’m actually very healthy! I just like the shopping cart covers for the comfort aspect.

I keep wipes handy at all times and we wash hands a lot, but I don’t freak out when she touches shopping carts or toys that other kids have handled.

Every time I go to the store he asks me if I wiped down the cart before I put him in (which I usually do) but if our son gets sick after we went to the store he blames it on the cart and then he thinks I didn’t scrub it down (when he says that he means every inch). I think some germs are okay because they make you stronger, but I do agree about the shopping carts…those are icky!

I do wish I had one of these to make the seat softer and more comfortable for my littlest to sit in. She’s a good sitter, but she gets distracted and tips over from time to time!

Well somewhat. I don’t sterilize every last thing he might touch, but I am very perticular about somethings, like public restrooms (YUCK!!), grocery carts and public high chairs are nasty.

Lentil July 16, 2009 at 2:44 am: I’m actually not a germaphobe, except when someone clearly has the flu and is still out and about in public. but otherwise, I think we tend to oversanitize our environment, which weakens our immune system and creates stronger bugs. I’m trying to find the right balance for my daughter, not overwhelming her system before she’s ready while at the same time exposing her to normal environmental elements. I have been thinking a shopping cart cover would be a good idea, because she’s in a chewing stage now!
