Zutano – Review & Giveaway – CLOSED

by Mommy on June 12, 2009

zutano1

The number of premature babies increased by 15% in the years 1995 – 2005.  My daughter was born at 36 weeks and was 6 pounds 9 ounces.  We had brought the cutest little outfit for her to wear home from the hospital, unfortunately, she was too small to fit into newborn clothing.  I was so sad to see how tiny she was and how big her clothing fit on her.  It really made my heart break for her that she had no clothes that fit.  When I got home, I looked through the zillions of onesies she had and only 2 premature onesies fit her, one was green, and the other had footballs and soccer balls on it  Even though these were not the ideal thing I wanted to dress my daughter in, I still rathered her in clothing that fit (even if they were meant for boys).

zutano1Zutano makes really nice clothing for babies and toddlers and has recently introduced an Itzy Bitzy line for babies up to 3 months old. There are two sizes in the Itzy Bitzy line, 4 – 8 pounds and 9 – 13 pounds.  I wish I would have known about this line before I delivered DD so she could have had some really cute clothing to fit her when she was first born.

DD is now 9 months old, and is way beyond the Itzy Bitzy line, so Zutano sent a short sleeve dress in the marigold pattern.   The dress is made from 100% cotton and did not shrink in the wash.  The dress is a very cute pattern and very girly.  The dress is very sweet, and I am surprised that I liked it as it has short sleeves.   It would not be my first choice from all the items Zutano has to offer, but it is a cute dress none the less.  I prefer the swing style dresses which have no sleeves.  However, with all the sleeveless dresses, I have to put a long sleeve onesies underneath for it to be warm enough.  With this Zutano short sleeve dress her shoulders andzutano2arms are mostly covered so there is no need for a onesies.  Overall, a very straight forward little dress for a little girl.

Zutano has the neatest website that makes it easy to pick the items you want.  There are about 24 different types of patterned fabrics to choose from and 18 different patterns of clothing and accessories.  It’s kind of like a mix and match.  You can choose any of the 18 items in any fabric.  You can get everything matching from onesies, bibs, dresses, shoes, and blankets (just to name a few things that Zutano carries).  They also have different types of material like wovens, valour, and interlock.

zutano1gifZutano clothing is coming up everywhere, while shopping recently I saw some of their clothing in my local department store. One of the greatest thing about Zutano is that they give back to the community, some of the programs they support are the educational enrichment programs for children, reproductive rights to women, end childhood hunger, better health care programs, regional scholarship fund, breast feeding educational programs, clothing drives and nonprofit support.  This alone is a great reason to support Zutano.

Both of my girls were over 8 pounds when born, and fit perfectly in the first outfit they had…except for the arms, I had to fold those in!

Both of my kids were over 8 1/2 lbs. at birth so the “newborn” clothes everyone decided to buy fit on day 1 and not for much longer after. Since then, though, they’ve both fit into clothes the same size as their age (ie., my 3 yr. old wears a 3T though they’re too big in the waist and barely long enough; my 3 month old wears some 0-3 months still but is moving into the 3-6 month clothes)

Carrie June 12, 2009 at 9:20 pm

I love the Sugar Blossom L/S Wrap Bodysuit

Carrie June 12, 2009 at 9:21 pm

My kids were both full-term but very small, so did not fit into the newborn sizes. Fortunately, for my son I had a few preemie clothes on hand, but for my new daughter, I didn’t, so she’s wearing big newborn clothes and looks kind of funny.

My babies did NOT fit in their clothing! They were both 6 lbs and the smallest outfit I had brought to the hospital was WAY too big. I had receieved one sleeper that I thought someone took off of a baby doll and gave to me since it was too small to be true (this was my first baby), but low and behold, it was the ONLY peice of clothing that fit!

All of my baby clothes were a little too large. They quickly grew into them though!

Denise June 21, 2009 at 8:04 pm

The Pink Cozie is so adorable! Very nice stuff otherwise, too!

Lauren June 21, 2009 at 10:36 pm

I don’t think it’s my “first” baby outfit, but my mom saved a couple of sweet dresses from that first year. (with three girls – and me the first – a lot of those clothes got used pretty well!)
