Tie Buddies – Giveaway – CLOSED

Tie Buddies are helping children everywhere learn how to tie their shoes. Wendy Welling and her two young daughters invented Tie Buddies in January 2007, and it has really taken off.  It make take some children up to 9 or 10 years before they are able to tie their own shoes if they are learning on their own!  However with Tie Buddies, children as young as 3 have learned to tie their shoes on their own with the cute Tie Buddies characters.

tie-buddiesjpgI’m sure all of you leaned to tie your shoes with the bunny through the hole rhyme.  Well it does eventually work, but it seems like it can take a lot of time to teach kids with this method.  Especially because there are shoes with velcro, children really have no incentive to learn how to tie their own shoes.  The Tie Buddies characters give children a new and fun way to learn how to tie shoes.

tiebuddies2Tie Buddies are designed to fit on almost all laces and they have characters for both girls and boys.  The girl Tie Buddies is a fairy and wands and the boys is race cars.  They retail for only $7.95, and some children have learned to tie their shoes in only 5 minutes after using the Tie Buddies.  I would say those results are pretty impressive.

This would be perfect for my daughter! She is 4 1/2 and we’re teaching her right now how to tie her shoes! She always gets caught up with the two “bunny ears” trying to loop around each other and through the hole – Tie Buddies would eliminate that (according to their website) – YEAH!

I can’t remember learning to tie my shoes, but more than likely it was my father that taught me how to tie them. And he probably was very impatient about it. These probably would have saved my hide back then. :) It sucks to have a father with a high IQ!

Some childhood memories stay with you forever. I can remember vividly the tears I shed whem my frustrated mom said I couldn’t go outside to play until I tied my own shoes. My sister, older by 7 years, took me in another room and tied them for me. I rushed to my mom to show her my tied shoes. She untied them and told me to tie them in front of her. My sister, Annie, spent what seemed like an eternity to me and taught me to master this task. She also taught me to ride a 2 wheel bike when the training wheels came off. I love her so! :-)

Darcy June 23, 2009 at 5:54 pm

I learned that once your child’s got the shoe-tying down, Tie Buddies can assist your kid in tying a more secure knot! My son’s a bit young for this, but it won’t be long before he needs it!

Kathryn June 27, 2009 at 9:07 am

My mom taught me to tie my shoes by making two loops and crossing them one over the other the same way you do with the single laces at the start of shoe-tying! It’s way simpler than the other way, though not so easy to undo, so I actually didn’t learn the “accepted” method until I was probably about ten or so!
