My Feet Squeak – Review & Giveaway – CLOSED

by Mommy on June 21, 2009

myfeetsqueak

Can you imagine this ever happening to you??  You are at a playground, or the grocery store, or the mall, and you turn around and your child is missing – Oh my Goodness.  Well, I am sure that it has happened to many of you, and it will probably happen to me.  There is definitely a major moment of panic, and then hopefully just a few minutes later a sigh of relief when your child is back in sight.  You would think that other than a child leash, there is no way to avoid not knowing where your child is at all times.  Well, there is a simple invention that will let you know where your child is, and still gives them the independence they desire.  They are called squeak shoes.

Squeak shoes let your child run around freely, and every time their foot touches the ground a little squeak comes from their feet.  So parents will know where their children are at all times.  My Feet Squeak, and online children’s squeak shoe boutique is the creation of Francis, also known as “Gigi”.  She’s a grandmother and is proud to bring Squeak shoes into Canada!

myfeetsqueak1gifI received a cute pair of Katie pink and brown Squeak Shoes form My Feet Squeak, I received them within days of first contacting Gigi.  The shoes are a size 4, so it took quite sometime for DD to fit into them, it is only now at 9 1/2 months that she fits well into her My Feet Squeak shoes.  DD isn’t quite walking on her own yet, but she is furniture walking, and every time she puts her foot down in a new spot, a little squeak comes out.  Sometimes they are just soft and other times they are pretty loud.  I’m not sure if she puts two and two together that it is her making the squeak sound, but her reactions are sometimes curious so I think she knows somethings up.

I love it when she wears her My Feet Squeak shoes when she is jumping in her jumperoo.  She jumps with her tippy toes, so the shoes do not squeak when she touches the ground, but every time that she is in the air, her heels click together so the shoes squeak when she is midair – it is just too cute.  I put these shoes on her when we have company to show them just how cute it is to watch and listen to her jump.  I could listen to it for hours it is just so cute.

myfeetsqueak2gifThe My Feet Squeak shoes fit her perfectly right now, and because shes not walking on her own as of yet, I will probably need to get another pair of squeak shoes for the more critical times when she could possibly run away.  For now, the My Feet Squeak shoes are just for fun and giggles.  It will be very sweet when she is walking around on her own to be able to hear her squeaking away as she runs around.

Here is a story from the My Feet Squeak website:

Not too long ago, 3 year old boy disappeared while playing in the mall playground. His mother took her eyes off him momentarily to check on her other 2 girls. In the blink of an eye, her son disappeared!!! It took 10 minutes before the Mall Security found him washing his hands in the men’s bathroom. If he had been wearing squeaky shoes, his mom would have heard him sneaking away.

This should be reason enough to purchase the My Feet Squeak shoes. The shoes at My Feet Squeak are available for boys and girls and come in sizes 3 – 8 – the time in children’s lives when they will most likely wonder off.

A pair of these fun little squeaky shoes might actually entice my 13 month old to walk. She’s not acting remotely interested in walking! I think I like the Olivia shoes the best because they’d match the most.

My eldest daughter used to run away from me in the grocery store (so she was sort of lost lol) and I finally decided to give her a good scare. I asked one of the guys that worked there to go up to her and pick her up; he did; she never ever ran away from me in a store again!!

Thanks

I have never been lost or really lost my child either. But when we were camping recently, she started to play peek-a-boo with some friends that we were camping with. I had just had my eye on her and she was next to one of her friends. The next minute, she was gone. She was hiding behind the tent because the kids were playing “hide and seek” behind the tent earlier. But before I realized thats where she was, I started to freak out!

My oldest ran off from me a few times when she was younger but we always found her (thank god). When she was smaller I used to put her on a wrist leash. I did not care what people thought – I would rather know that she was safe. Did not have my problem with my little 2 – they stay pretty close to me.

When I was 8, I used to participate in after school activities my dad would pick me up from. This one day, he didn’t arrive (I would later find out that his girlfriend was supposed to get me), and after an hour or so, I figured that I could probably walk home. Big mistake. I wound up realizing that my apartment wasn’t nearly as close to my school as I thought, and I ended up lost in some random neighborhood. I cried – HARD, and a mother who heard me let me into her house. I didn’t know my phone number or address, so she called the school. Eventually, my dad’s girlfriend found her way to this woman’s house and took me home.

One time my hubby and I took our two cars to a local fund raising car wash. Our three kids were loaded up with me. When our cars were washed, two of my kids climbed back in my car. I looked around and didn’t see the youngest (6) so I thought he had climbed in his father’s car and they had already left for home. I got home and about 20 minutes later, hubby asks where the youngest was! I flew back to the car wash and there he was sitting on a step, drinking an orange drink, waiting for me. I have never been so scared in my life.

When I was around 10 my mom took me to the state fair with some friends of hers and i remember holding her hand pointing to a ride i wanted to go on and turned around and she was gone! She had thought i was right beside her, luckily i prayed and stayed where i was and she found me! it was really scary for her and for me!

I lost my son at the grocery store for a few minutes, but it felt like so much longer. I ran to the front doors right away and told an employee and then kept searching frantically. I finally found him in the toy section (of course). My son is such a dasher and so fast — these would be great!

Carol G June 22, 2009 at 2:31 pm

Both of my girls managed to get away from me when they were very young. The one that really sticks in my mind is when my older daughter wandered off in a large Sears store in a major mall. The entire store staff and mall security were looking for her, when a customer came in from the parking lot with her. Apparently some ‘kind’ soul had held the door open for her so she could leave the store! Since she was noticeably too young to be wandering on her own, it really scared me in more ways than one!

Summer June 22, 2009 at 2:39 pm

Just recently, my husband and I, my brother and my parents were at an open house. We all went outside and assumed someone else was watching our 3 yr. old. When we suddenly realized he wasn’t with us, he was 2 blocks away down the street. He’d luckily stayed on the same road but he’d crossed a side street even! It was very, very scary.

In a dept. store while looking for slacks for my husband, my son slipped under the slacks and stood on the rack’s chrome bar. When I realized he wasn’t next to me I panicked and repeatedly shouted his name. I had looked under the pants but couldn’t see him as he was standing a few inches off the floor on the rack’s bar. When I began crying & screaming for security, he came out, asked me why I was crying and told me he couldn’t answer to his name because he was playing hide n’ seek. I was so relieved but didn’t take him shopping with me for a long time.

I instantly ran out to find him, but he was gone. You talk about scared. I have thankfully never lost one of my children. However, my son gave my friend the scare of her life when he was about 4. Our families went to an indoor water park and my friend was watching my son playing with her sons while my hubby & I waited in line for a ride with my older daughter. During that time, my son had to go to the bathroom so he just walked himself to the mens room and my friend didn’t see that! She was panicking when she couldn’t find my son and had the staff searching for him…until he strolled back on his own!

I was entertaining my 4 year old granddaughter while her mom was in the dressing room of a large department store. She had the 2 year old with her. When the little one wandered off, my daughter assumed she’d meet up with me, but she just kept toddling and I didn’t see her go past. She was lost for about 10 minutes, just wandering through the store, and it was terrible.

i was lost as a kid my babysitter forgot to pick me up at school so I tried walking to the house myself i was in like the first grade. It was 5 or 6 miles. They had lots of people looking for my it was my dad that found me. It was a terrible feeling. I remember my mom was really angry and I never saw my babysitter again.
