Kushies – Review & Giveaway & Discount Code – CLOSED

It’s spring here in Nova Scotia which means rain, rain, and lots of rain. But it also means green grass, tulips and flip flops are just around the corner. I am so excited for flip flops! In the meantime it’s time to keep warm and dry in this crazy weather we have here in Nova Scotia. I’m sure you have all heard of Kushies, they sell cloth diapers and accessories, well I just recently found out that they sell more than that – they also sell clothing, bath accessories and rain gear. I was so surprised to see the cutest little rain coats on the Kushies website.

I dealt with Hilary at Kushies, the process was so simple and Hilary was so fast and very courteous with email. With the up and coming spring season just around the corner, I thought a raincoat would probably be the best thing for me to test out. I am very glad this was my pick because I’ve put it to good use already. The coat arrived less than a week after I was first in touch with Hilary, I was really impressed by the shipping time, and even more pleased with the little raincoat I received.

The baby pink waterproof raincoat that I received from Kushies is 6 – 12 months, DD is now 9 months, and I have to roll the sleeves up, but the rest seems to fit fine. I would say she will be able to wear this all spring, summer and into the fall as well. So the sizing is generous. This jacket comes fully lined which is great for this time of year because you never know when the temperature is going to dip around the freezing mark. The lining really keeps her warm. If we are in the car and she has her coat on with her hood up, she will be quite warm by the time we get to our destination – this is a far cry from the old school raincoats I used to wear. I can remember shivering in the cold with a raincoat on, but I would be dry. The lining also means means there is no cold raincoat material sticking to DD’s skin. This coat keeps DD dry and warm!

074 The Kushies raincoat also has a cute little beak on the hood which keeps the rain out of her eyes in the rain. The hood also has a generous elastic all the way around which is stretchable. I find the hood a little large for DD’s head and sometimes it falls over hear eyes, but it’s easily pulled back. The jacket has a large zipper which is very easy for me to zip up, and has velcro tabs as well. The jacket also comes with 2 front pockets and a large recipe card size pocket in the back, which I am not too sure what to use for, but it looks really cute in the back. As a safety feature, the Kushies raincoat also has 2 reflective strips, which is great in case we are out and about in the evening. DD will be walking soon, and summer is coming, so this is a feature that as a parent I can really appreciate, just to be on the safe side.

One last thing that I really like about the jacket is a name label where I was able to put DD’s name and contact info in case she were to ever lose her jacket (God forbid)! The large label is not mistakable! If I (DD) were ever to lose her Kushies raincoat, there is no way it wouldn’t make it back home. It was very easy to write my contact info in the space with a regular pen, it did not run and I’ve had this coat in the rain a number of times.

This coat is really really cute. It’s a little mini version of an adult raincoat, it just looks adorable on DD, and it keeps her dry and warm (that’s the most important part – right?!?) I put this Kushies raincoat on DD even on days when it’s not raining – anything can happen in the spring time, so it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Although I always associated Kushies with cloth diapers and accessories, it’s obvious that they make excellent rain products as well. We all love DD’s raincoat, and are very impressed with its ability to keep her dry and warm. If you are looking for the perfect raincoat for the rainy season, you will be very happy with this Kushies raincoat. There are also matching pants, which would look adorable on any child.
