Alton Weekes – Review & Giveaway – CLOSED

I really like a nice card.  When I was younger and had some time, and was a bit more creative, I used to make my own cards for people.  Now, because of a lack of time and creativity, I usually just pick up an unpersonal card from the store.  I spend a few minutes looking at some cards, and pick the best one.  There’s not usually much of a selection and they are all pretty bland.

When I came across Alton Weekes website, I was very pleased to see the beautiful handmade cards, invitations and announcements that he offered.  No more plain cards, these are super fancy cards, that are blank on the inside so you can personalized your card for that special someone.  Alton’s creativity comes from his mother, and each and every card Alton creates is inspired by his Mother who is no longer with us in person, but is still with us through Alton’s beautiful work.  Your Mother would be very proud Alton.

The package that I received from Alton Weekes was very impressive.  Since he was shipping cards, he used a very thick cardboard envelope and had some more thick cardboard inside the package so there was no chance for any of the cards to bend in the mail.  Is there anything worse than receiving a bent package?  These cards were very crisp and there was so signs that they had been shipped at all.  The package also came with a personalized note.  When I opened the note and saw Alton’s spectacular penmanship, I knew that he must be a creative person.  I have never seen penmanship like Alton Weekes before, it is truly unique and fancy, just like his cards.

Alton Weekes sent me the  most spectacular cards, all of which offer a different feeling and a different message.  Each card which is a perfect square, comes in it’s own little plastic sleeve, with an envelope and an Alton Weekes business card inside.  Each card has a raised texture to it, which gives them a rich and very classy look.  The back of each card also has an embossed stamp of Alton’s logo, so it is obvious to the receiver that this card is a handcrafted card.

I received a wedding card from Alton Weekes,which is a bright crisp white with a simple “I Do” on the front with some beautiful pearls in a flower pattern.  I am really looking forward to sending this card to the next weeding I attend this summer.  I’m sure that this will be the only card that the bride and groom will receive like this.  There are no cute brides and grooms, this is a classy card for a special day.  Since I didn’t yet test out this card, I asked my friends to to tell me what they thought of the card, and their reaction was the same as mine “Wow, that is a really nice card.”  The inside is blank, so I can write a personal message to the bride and groom.  This is a card that will be passed around the room for everyone to look closely at.

I also received a a friends card and a get well soon card, both are some very bright orange, red and yellows which gives the card a very cheery and upbeat feeling.  The get well card includes a cute orange ribbon bow, and also says “take time, feel better” on a white background right in the middle of the card.  The friends card says “”thanks for all you do” on the bottom right hand side of the card which gives it a very nice little touch.  Both cards have a very upbeat and almost spring feeling to them (don’t you just love the feeling of spring?  It’s my favourite season).  Your receiver will definitely feel special receiving these cards.  It is obvious that you have spent some time looking for a nice card, as it’s not something that you can just pick up at the grocery store.

The last card, and this one has to be my (and everyone else I showed the cards to) favourite, is the “thinking of you card”.  I think the reason I love it is because it’s in my favourite colour pallet, pink and brown! It has some little butterflies on the front with some flowers, and has some pink sparkles as well.  I know it probably sounds like it’s over the top, but it’s just the right amount of pink, and brown.  This card comes with a brown envelope to match!  I had to pick someone very special to send this card to, since I only have one.  I sent the card to my Grandmother as she is probably one of the most special people in my life.  She was so surprised to see the beautiful card that I sent, she actually called my mother right away to tell her how much she loved the card!  My grandmother has shown everyone this card, my aunts and uncles have all made comments on the card that I sent to my grandmother.  This is probably the first time in my life a single card has received this must attention.

Alton Weekes has put a lot of time into each and every one of his creations and it really shows.  The packaging for a card is superb, and the quality of work is really apparent in each one of his cards.  I am really looking forward to sending these cards to people, as I know they will have never received a beautiful and special card like those by Alton Weekes.
