Womb to World – Review and Giveaway CLOSED

Womb to World started 10 years ago this February creating affordable wraps and slings for parents. Baby-wearing has only become popular in these last few years so you could say that Jessica is way before her time.  Womb to World also sells other baby items as well such as no slip hair clips, and full party gear which is part of the Whimsical Wearables collection.  Jessica has been a pleasure to work with, she is super quick with emails and likes to get to know her clients.  She is very personable and has excellent customer service. You will feel well appreciated as one of her clients.

Jessica at Womb to World sent me some no slip hair clips to try out from the Whimsical Wearables collection. My baby girl is nearly hairless at 6 months old, so I thought I would be hard pressed to find something that would work in her hair.  Whimsical Wearables has come up with a solution, it’s the  Itty Bitty collection. These tiny little clips are 1/2 the size of the regular clips but have the same grip as the big ones, so I was hopeful that they would work.

I received my beautifully wrapped up packages from Womb to World (like I said before, I love packaging), Jessica does a great job of packing up her little jewels.  Everything was neat and tidy in it’s own little package, with nice pink and brown (I just love that colour combination).   The package on the left hand side are singles including the Itty Bitty’s and the package on the right is a Trio pack.  The clips that I received look exactly the same as the pictures on the Internet, but the packaging is what gives it that extra touch.

The  Itty Bitty hair clips are amazing, they actually stay in my girls peach fuzz, and because they are so small, they don’t look silly on her head.  I usually put the clip on the top of her head and have the hair standing straight up.   Finally when we go shopping people know she is a girl now.  I always dress DD in pink, but people were still saying “how old is he”, “what’s his name”.  With a pink bow in her hair, all those questions now have the word “her” in it.

Although tiny, there is no shortage on style and bling.  The  Itty Bitty clips have Swarovski crystals, and have the cutest patterns and bows.  These Whimsical Wearables are quality made and now have an adhesive that is waterproof.  (I was not able to test the new adhesive) If you are like me, many things end up in the wash, so not to worry if these clips get dirty and need to be washed, they should stay in tact.

The Itty Bitty’s are a great price to add a special girly touch especially for those girls with little to no hair.   Womb to World’s prices always includes shipping charges, so remember the price you see on her site is the price you pay.   If you purchase more than one item,  the prices will even be cheaper.  So make sure to order in bulk.

Jessica also sent me one of her Trio packs.  This is 3 clips that look similar, but are all different.  Again, I just love the brown and pink combo, so I was drawn to the Cupcake Cutie Trio, but there are other trios as well, Ballerina, Princess, you name it, there is something to match every girls outfit.  Some of the trios are on sale for online $5.95 a pack, and don’t forget Womb to World prices ALWAYS includes the shipping cost.   The Trio clips are the regular size and have the same no slip grip, therefore they will stay in only a little bit of hair.  These would stay in my baby’s hair, but becuase she has so little hair, and the clip is heavy it looks too large for her small head.  When her hair gets a little longer and her head gets bigger these clips will be great.

For great customer service, a great product and a great price, you should purchase your clips at Womb to World.  I would especially suggest buying the Itty Bitty collection if  you have a baby with little hair.  The smaller size works great, and looks great too.

Womb to World always has some great giveaways, so make sure to visit the site and comment to be entered. She also has clip of the month programs where each month you will get a new hair clip in the mail.

Baby J Jewels – Review & Giveaway – CLOSED

Baby J Jewels is the creation of Ashley Parsons, who is from Edmonton, Alberta.  She makes personalized bracelets, for Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunties and anyone and everyone who is special.  She makes each bracelet herself and takes pride in her work, but makes sure to get her pieces out quickly.  Her jewelry is sold all over the world, and when I received my precious package from Baby J Jewels, I knew why these would be and attractive piece of jewelry for mothers.

When Ashely asked me to pick a bracelet, I had a hard time choosing just one as she has many beautiful designs.  I choose the one name bracelet as I only have one child for now, in pink crystals and freshwater pearls with my daughter’s name DD.  Ashley makes these personally for each of her clients so she wanted my wrist size as well to make sure that it would fit me perfectly.  Ashley had the bracelet finished that day, which was a Saturday and shipped it out on Monday and I received it the next Monday.  It’s not very often that things happen so quickly!  Ashely says that is the customer service she gives to all her clients.  She likes to be efficient and keep on top of her orders.  So, if you like to receive things quickly after ordering them, Ashely is sure to come through.

Before Baby J Jewels sends out your package, she takes pictures of the bracelet and sends it to you to make you are going to like it.  I was in awe when I saw the pictures.  Ashley is obviously creative because not only is her jewelry fantastic, she is an amazing photographer.  It was nice to see the finished product and give it the A-Ok before getting it in the mail.  With a name like DD it is easy to make a spelling mistake so I was glad to be able to make sure the name was spelt right.  Ashley sends pictures to all her clients before sending out the finished product.

When I received my package in the mail, I could hardly believe how beautiful it was.  The little claps, the heart, pearls, crystals, and of course the name blocks all fit together so well to make a beautiful bracelet. The clasp is a T-bar with a little oval which ads a beautiful little touch, and makes it really easy to put on yourself.

I wear my bracelet everyday and never fear it breaking, or coming undone.  I get many compliments about my bracelet.  People think it is just beautiful, and love that I have my baby’s name on it.  I love it as well, it keeps me close to her and thinking of her even when I may be away.

Baby J Jewels also makes bracelets with more than one name.  If you have more than one child, you may want to have one bracelet with all their names on it.  There could be a strand for each name or you could put a few names on each strand. Whatever you want to do, Ashley can make something beautiful for you.  This would be GREAT for Grandmothers,  you could get one bracelet with all of her grand kinds names on it, or each initial plus a birthstone. Ashely takes her time to make sure that the bracelet will look balanced and the names all fit together well.  Don’t worry if you are not creative, Ashley will do it all for you to make it look beautiful.

What I especially love about this bracelet is that in the future when my daughter is older, I can give it to her for her to wear.  It can be a ceremonial item that I can pass on to her, and maybe someday, her daughter will wear it with her mothers name on it.  How beautiful would that be?

This bracelet is very well made, and looks amazing on my wrist.  If you aren’t sure what to buy a new mom (or an old Mom) for a special occasion, a mother’s bracelet would make an excellent choice.  Pricing for one strand is only $30 so it is very affordable, especially for being personalized.  The quality of the piece and the quality service you receive are well worth your money.  Moms – if no one buys this for your, do yourself a favour and buy one for yourself.   It really dresses up any outfit, even a t-shirt.

Moms and Bums – Review

If you are a mom (or Dad) that is concerned for your baby’s future world, Moms and Bums is a place you should put on your must list to shop. Tanya Bell is the owner of this online store and makes shopping from pregnancy to nursing and everything in between an easy one stop shop at Moms and Bums. Moms and Bums will take care or all your natural parenting needs.  This is perfect for a mom like me that both uses cloth diapers and breastfeeds!

Tanya sent me a Pail Pal Deodorizing Disk to review.  The Pail Pal disk is just that – a disk that you put in the bottom of your diaper pail to keep your diapers smelling fresh while waiting to be washed.  I try to wash my little girls diapers every 3 days or so, I have 28 cloth diapers, so we are usually good for 3 days, sometimes more, sometimes less.  By the 3rd day, the basement starts to have a faint smell of,,, well,,, poop and pee!  It’s true.  We put all the dirty diapers in the basement bathroom and close the door so the smell doesn’t escape too badly.  The smell isn’t unbearable, it’s not even really THAT bad, but it is there.  When I put the deodorizer in the bottom on the diaper bucket, I thought it would be interesting to see if it was going to work. Because I was putting diapers on top of the disk, I wasn’t sure if the smell was strong enough to make it past the dirty diapers.  Sure enough, the next time I went downstairs, the whole basement had a very nice fresh lavender scent.  Not a single hint of poop or pee, just a nice and fresh summer breezy scent.  It was a pleasure to go downstairs as the scent was actually quite relaxing.  It was nice to go there to wash the diapers and just smell the air. To my surprise, the Pail Pal worked for 2 – 3 loads of diapers, so about a week or so.  For $1, it really adds a beautiful smell to your home.  I’d go for it.  If you have a real diaper pail, there is a little spot in the bottom that you can place the disk in and it fits perfectly, this way your disk is suppose to last up to 3 weeks.  If your pail don’t have a little hole, you can tape the pail pal to the top of your diaper pail cover – now, why didn’t I think of that?

I also got to review the wipe cubes from Moms and Bums.  Upon first receiving the cubes I thought that only a really hard core eco-friendly person would use reusable wipes.  But, I was willing to give it a go.  I didn’t have any cloth wipes, so Tanya told me I could use the wipe cubes on my regular disposable wipes.  So, I saved a weeks worth of wipes, and put them in the wash, and then the drier and I could hardly believe how many wipes there were.  They must have doubled in the drier.  I try so hard to take care of the environment by using cloth diapers, then I just use and throw out all these wipes. Something was wrong with this picture.  If I could reuse these wipes, why haven’t I been doing it?  Well, I didn’t know that they could be reused, and it sounded like a lot of work.  I will tell you all, it was not a lot of work at all.  Only one more load of laundry, and if you wanted to, you could probably throw them into the same load as your diapers.  Just throw your diapers and wipes all in the same pail and then wash them all at once.

The wipe cubes worked great.  You put one cube in 2 cups of warm water.  To get the wipes ready, I folded them back and forth so that when I pulled one wipe out, the next one would be waiting.  I first tried to pour the solution on top of the wipes, but found that did not work well. My mother suggested putting the solution in the bottom of the wipe case and then placing the wipes in and sure enough, that worked great!  I let them sit and soak up all the water and voila, the wipes were ready to go again.  I could not believe how easy it was. The wipes were wet all the way through.  The ones on top were a little drier and the ones on the bottom were a little wetter, but they all worked well enough to get my baby’s bottom clean.  I think you can probably wash and reuse your wipes 3 or 4 times even.  What a saving on the environment.  Even if you only reuse them once, you are still saving the environment!  The cube wasn’t even all the way dissolved and therefore could be used again as well.

I also found other uses around the house for your washed wipes.  I use them as liners in diapers, so when baby poops, it wont stain her diaper.  My mother also uses them on the Swiffer to dust the floor.  The dust sticks to it.  So don’t throw out your old wipes, reuse them and save the world one wipe at a time.  Reusing wipes or cloth wipes not only save the world, but it’s good in your pocket book too.  With cloth wipes, you will only have to purchase them once and they will be good for all your diapering days.

Challenge:

I challenge all my readers that still have babies in diapers, to save a weeks worth of wipes, wash them, and reuse them.  Write a comment here how easy it was.

Custom Creations – Handpainted wooden name – Review & Giveaway – CLOSED

Shannon MacQueen is the brains behind Custom Creations.  Shannon is a work at home mom from London, Ontario.  She makes beautiful wall hangings from scratch. Shannon starts by precision routtering out the letters, then sands, primes, paints and then adds the finishing touch, the ribbons.  She does all the work herself from start to finish.

Custom Creations is just that – they are customized creations made from wood.  You can get a name or your family’s last name, or your house number.  Whatever you want done, Shannon can make it for you.  There are also many types of fonts and paints to choose from as well.  If you want to add some pizzazz to your room, or house, these Custom Creations will add the little personal touch you are looking for!

I recieved the beautiful package from Shannon a few weeks after I had originally talked to her. She had informed me right away that there would be a delay in my name because her wood cutting machine had a bit of glitch.  Once the machine was functioning again it was only a few short days before I received the package.  I really appreciated being told right away that there would be a delay.

The name I requested was DD (my daughter’s name).  I told her to use any font and paitings she wanted to – I love surprises.  What I got was a little masterpiece that added a bit of whimsy to my daughters bedroom.  Just the finishing touch that a little girls room needs. The letters have been cut so well, all the “e” ‘s look exactally the same, the painting looks superb and the ribbons are all the exact same length.  You can really see the time and patience Shannon spends making these names.  They look very professional.  This is something a mother would make for thier daughter if they had all the time in the world (and creativity) to make it!

Before our baby was born, my husband and I were shopping in baby stores and saw handpainted baby names that said $10, and I thought wow, that is an amazing price.   Turns out, that was per letter!  My baby’s name is 9 letters long, I could not justify spending $90 plus tax on a name. Custom Creations is only $20 a name (up to 6 letters and 5″ per letter) OR 2 names for $35, plus shipping.  Holy smokes, that’s a very good price.  You could go to a craft store and get unpainted letters for $5 each and the only font is block letters, and then have to paint them yourself (buy the paint) and then glue on the ribbon. Shannon does everything for you, all you have to do is put your order in and it’s cheaper and easier than doing it yourself.

Other things Shannon will do are family names for the front of your house.  It’s a full wood carving.   How cute would that look on your house?  Pick what picture you want, engraving or embossing and once again Shannon will whip it up for you in no time.  She’s a whiz when it comes to woodworking and painting.  Boy or girl, young or old, she has something that will appeal to everyones taste.

You can also spice up your kitchen or livingroom with words like Dream, Live, Love, Laugh, Hope, Wish, and Bon Appetit!  Whatever you are looking for, Shannon can make it for you and her professionalism and pride in her work will show and make your home shine as well.

Shannon’s work is great and so is her customer service.  I am very pleased with the name I received and I know you will be too.  With her great pricing and timing you will be more than pleased with the treasure you recieve from Custom Creations.

Madi Couture – Review and Giveaway- CLOSED

Madi Couture is a posh online store that features only the best mom and baby gear.  Mandy Klimpke a mom from Alberta owns this store and finds the most popular and stylish items to bring to her shop.  She takes great pride in ensuring her customers are happy with their products and that they arrive promptly and beautifully of course.

Mandy sent me the GiGi Blanki to review.  This product is made in the States, but is very popular and thanks to Madi Couture is now available in Canada – Only at her store.  So Canadians if you are going to buy the Gigi and I suggest you do – buy it from Madi Couture.

I can see why the Gigi is so popular. Upon receiving my Gigi Blanki, I knew it had to be something special just by the packaging.  It was all wrapped up pretty in a little ribbon.  This cute little blanki has become my favourite.  I absolutely love it.  It is the softest, and most beautiful little blanket your baby will have.  This Blanki is definitely luxurious.

Although the Blanki it is a little small at only 19′ x 16′ it is the perfect size for little baby hands to grab onto and bring around with them.  If you want something a little bigger there is the Strollie which is much bigger at 30″ x 35″. I love the little size, it’s just perfect to bring around all over the house and out in public without it being too cumbersome and having it drag all over the ground.  My little girl can even carry it around with her cause it’s so light, so wherever she is, the Gigi is not far away.

This blanket is the softest thing your hands will touch.  The front is a beautiful pattern that is very soft velour, and the back is a pink (or blue) satin.  There is also a nice big logo on the Blankie that says Gigi!  How cute is that?  I can see my little girl run her hands over the front and then the back, then try to put it in her mouth.  I really like to watch her explore and I know this feels good on her little hands.  I like to rub it on her little face, and mine too, it just feels so good and comforting.

I was so sad one afternoon after my little girl threw up her sweet potatoes all over the blanket. I thought for sure there would be a great big orange stain left on the blanket. I was disappointed because the Blanki just looks so crisp and clean. I had tried to wash out her sweet potatoes from some of her bibs with on luck, but sure enough, the Gigi came out totally clean. There was not even a little tiny hint of sweet potatoes left on the Blankie. The valour must be high quality for the stain totally come out.

Last week I brought the Gigi Blanki with me while out on a day trip, a day later I noticed I no longer had my Gigi. My heart sank, I thought I had lost it.  I searched my house inside and out.  I was very disappointed in myself that I had lost the Gigi. I told myself that if I was unable to find it, I would splurge and buy another from Madi Couture. It’s not often that I would splurge on any items (and I do find the Gigi is a little pricy), but I really felt that the Gigi was something that I wanted my daughter to have.  Luckily I found it, but Mandy, if I ever do lose it, please know that I will be purchasing another one.

Both my Mother and Husband even like the Gigi.  My mom will always ask, “Where’s the Gigi”, while rocking her, so she can rub the soft material on her face and hands.  We refer to it in our house as “The Gigi”.  Do you have a blanket in your house that has a name?  If you get this, you too, will call it “The Gigi”.

If you are a Mom (or Dad) that feels like you are in a bit of a rut, and need something to lift your spirits, Madi Couture will have have a little something for you.  For me, this is the Gigi. I’m not sure why – because I am not a materialistic person, but the Gigi really makes me feel good about myself.  It is something I am very proud to own for my daughter, I feel very attached to it.

To buy the Gigi Blanki, please visit Madi Couture.  You can also buy the Gigi Blankie, Strolli and Toothie together in a package.  They all match!

Mandy is very personable, will answer emails very quickly and she will get to know you a bit as well.  I feel like I have made a friend in Mandy while working with her. Please stay tuned for more from Madi Couture in the future. Thanks Mandy!

Mandy hosts her own giveaways at Madi Couture as well, submit a pic of your baby and be entered to win $50 each month.
